Guide for Involving Industry in Teaching

Involving industrialists in teaching can provide mutual benefits for lecturers, students and industry. engCETL has developed a guide for Loughborough University academic staff, in engineering and engineering-related departments, who involve (or wish to involve industry) in one or more aspects of their teaching. The guide provides a pragmatic approach to finding and involving industrialists in teaching.

engCETL project proposals for Summer 2010 has now closed

Proposals were made by staff for engCETL development, research, support or funding work.  Details on how to propose a project with engCETL is provided below.  In addition, guidelines for project proposals are available for downloading. Word document pdf document  

Proposals submitted to the engCETL should focus on improving the student learning experience and/or linking education with industry in line with the engCETL aims.

Recent Events

Engage project report now available

The Engineering Subject Centre, in partnership with engCETL and the Subject Centres for Physical Science and Materials, was successful in securing funds for a one year project: Facilitating Dialogue between Employers and Engineering, Physical Sciences and Materials Academics in Higher Education, otherwise known as the ‘Engage’ project. The final report describes the outcomes of the project, discusses the skills agenda relating to engineering and physical sciences, makes recommendations and observations about the employer engagement agenda and points to relevant resources.

engCETL has been proud to be involved with the Higher Education Academy Engineering and Materials Subject Centre's series of Pedagogic Research workshops. An archive of images and news from the events in 2006, 2007 and 2008 is now available from the Engineering Subject Centre's website.

Engineering Department Contacts List - now available online

engCETL supported the Engineering Subject Centre Engage project and Richard Newman, engCETL's Industrial Liaison Officer, was the Co-ordinator for the Building Partnerships group who created a contact list of University Engineering departments for employers.
