A significant number of our undergraduate students are sponsored by industry. In many departments a consortium of companies are involved in developing the curriculum and sponsoring students. If you are interested in becoming involved or would like to find out more please contact us on 01509 227191.
Civil & Building Engineering
A number of Civil Engineering degree students are sponsored by consulting engineers and contractors. Many Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying students and Construction Engineering Management students are sponsored by leading construction companies.
Electronic & Electrical Engineering
The Systems Engineering degree is currently sponsored by BAE SYSTEMS, Frazer-Nash Consultancy and SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems . A majority of Electronics and Software Engineering students are sponsored by ARM.
Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering
The Teaching Contract Scheme is a partnership between the Department and a group of companies whereby small teams of students conduct research and design projects. The scheme involves over 20 companies who support students through offering project material for them to complete as coursework. The students visit the company to meet with the industrial tutor and to discuss the project brief.
The Innovative Manufacturing Engineering (IME) degree involves a unique venture with an Industrial Consortium of companies who provide students with industrial experience and sponsorship. The members of the Industrial Consortium are: ArvinMeritor, Bentley, Perkins Engines/Caterpillar, IMI, Indesit, Rolls-Royce, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery and Smiths Aerospace.
engCETL created an IME website which is used to promote the course to potential applicants. The website contains case studies of students on placement in industry, an overview of the course and information about the sponsorship programme.
