Co-Tutor is an online database system which provides a straightforward way for personal tutors and project supervisors to record and view their student's tutorial progress. Tutors can record the details of face to face meetings, add any information at any time, have a record of email that has been sent to their tutees and add a copy of any email sent by a student into their record.
This tutorial history is built up over the time that the students are studying at Loughborough and kept indefinitely once they have left. This helps record the progress of students throughout their time at Loughborough from tutor to tutor and provides an easy method to access this information once they have left (for references etc).
Co-Tutor is the updated version of the original Tutorial Record System or 'TRS' as it became known. This started as a small development project undertaken by the Engineering Education Centre (formerly EngTLSC) in 1999. The project was proposed by Dr Bill Forsythe (Electrical Engineering) from an idea to replace his own existing paper based system for Personal Tutoring. A TQEF Project was set up in October 2000 for 2 years to disseminate the system across all Faculties in the University.
In 2003 substantial development work was undertaken by the Engineering Education Centre, creating version 2 of the system.
LATEST UPDATES - SEPTEMBER 2004
A survey over the summer focused on the 'wish list' requests that have been submitted over the past year. These were were basis of a priority list of updates based on the results which can be found here.
