Distance-learning students can be separated from their on-campus counterparts by the lack of direct contact with teachers and classmates and poor access to resources. It is important that the resources available to DL students are of the highest quality possible, to ensure their continued engagement in the subject.
We would like to improve the quality of the distance learning materials for several of the modules in the department. Many of the distance learning students are studying through corporate partnerships, such as Unilever, and it is vital that they feel they are getting value for money in these modules. New functionality could include imbedded video footage, online tutorials and tools for feedback and assessment.
Latest Update - October 2009
Progress: 20%
Held initial meeting with BH and MW. They have supplied current copies of distance learning packs for the two modules they are interested in updating. We have a further meeting scheduled in Nov with Rob Biersteker from Unilever, to discuss their requirements.
