Materials Selection for Engineering Design

Date: May, 2007

Proposed By: Barry Haworth (IPTME)

The project seeks to assess the potential demand to develop Teaching & Learning resources in the area of Materials Engineering across engCETL departments, in order to develop the underpinning engineering science for Materials Selection in Engineering Design.

IPTME already has staff, software and equipment resources to offer teaching & learning opportunities in the general field of "materials specification, selection and design". Staff expertise covers various aspects in materials selection, together with in-depth knowledge and experience in using very specific types and grades of materials in new design applications. IT-based resources are centred on the 'Cambridge CES Materials Selector' with accompanying texts and learning resources.
