I graduated from the University of Wales (Bangor) in 1993 with a BEng and MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I spent the first two of years of my career working as a Quality Assurance Engineer for Toyota UK before completing a PGCert in Research Skills (1998) and a PhD in Modelling of Manufacturing Systems in 2000. My research involved modelling systems at 10 UK based manufacturing organisations including Rolls-Royce, BAe Systems, BICC and British Steel.

Whilst undertaking the PhD I became a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Electrical and Electronic Programmes at the University of Derby. Here I developed an interest in effective approaches to teaching and learning whilst undertaking a PGCert in Learning and Teaching in HE (2002). In 2005 I became a Learning Technology Co-ordinator within the Engineering Faculty at Loughborough university and have developed a keen interest in software development particularly for teaching, learning and assessment purposes. Since 2008 I have been the Assistant Manager for the engCETL.  In addition to assisting in the management of the engCETL, part of my role involves developing e-learning facilities within the faculty and keeping up to date with latest technologies to aid teaching and learning.
